Muon Space has introduced its most capable spacecraft to date, the MuSat XL, a 500 kg-class satellite platform engineered for high-demand low Earth orbit missions. Hubble Network will be the first customer, leveraging the platform for its satellite-powered Bluetooth network.

The MuSat XL extends the flight-proven Halo stack, delivering increased payload capacity, higher power output, and advanced agility while retaining the scalability and cost efficiency needed for constellation deployment. Designed for Earth observation and telecommunications missions, it supports multi-payload operations, extreme data throughput, intersatellite networking, and precision pointing.

"XL is more than a bigger bus - it's a true enabler for customers pushing the boundaries of what's possible in orbit, like Hubble," said Jonny Dyer, CEO of Muon Space. "Their transformative BLE technology represents the future of space-based services and we are ecstatic to enable their mission with the XL Platform and our Halo stack."

In 2024, Hubble became the first company to link a Bluetooth signal directly to a satellite. Using MuSat XL, it will deploy a next-generation payload with a phased-array antenna and a receiver 20 times more powerful than its earlier CubeSat, enabling detection at 30 times lower power and direct links for ultra-low-cost, energy-efficient devices.

"Muon's platform gives us the scale and power to build a true Bluetooth layer around the Earth," said Alex Haro, Hubble Network's CEO. The first two XL satellites will achieve 12-hour global revisit times, with scalability for accelerated coverage.

Based on Muon's heritage 200 kg MuSat design, the XL boosts capabilities with more than 1 kW of orbit-average payload power, high-volume downlink capacity exceeding 5 TB/day, and optical crosslink networking for near real-time operations. The PayloadCore architecture allows rapid integration of hardware and software, enabling cloud-like onboard networking, storage, and compute.

MuSat XL's precise and agile pointing suits demanding EO and RF missions, while its modular, manufacturable design integrates with Muon's vertically developed stack from custom instrument design to mission operations. Early adoption by Hubble highlights industry demand for autonomous, high-performance platforms with commercial-scale longevity.
