CPI Antenna Systems Integrates New Large-Aperture Satellite Earth Stations into Its Product Line by Staff Writers Plano TX (SPX) Sep 20, 2018
Earlier this year, the Antenna Systems Division (ASD) of Communications and Power Industries (CPI) extended its product line with a range of new large-aperture earth station antennas, as part of a previously announced technology acquisition. These new antennas range in diameter from 7.2 meters up to 18 meters, can be configured for C-, K-, Ku-, X- and DBS-band operation, and feature high-efficiency optics and precision high-rigidity mounts. Over the past several months, CPI ASD has been working to integrate these antennas into its product line, making them compatible with its industry-leading antenna operating technology and upgrading their capabilities to complement CPI ASD's existing product portfolio. In addition to their high-performance design, the new antennas can now be configured with CPI ASD technologies such as the Next-Generation Controller (NGC). The NGC is a powerful, standards-based platform for controlling every aspect of antenna operation. CPI ASD's NGC can interface with a full suite of tracking technologies, and also offers features and options that include a built-in spectrum analyzer and beacon receiver, transmit and receive chain-switching capabilities, system redundancy and carrier monitoring. "The addition of these large-diameter earth stations represents a major expansion of the CPI Antenna Systems product line, which now runs from 2.4-meter nomadic terminals up to 18-meter earth station antenna systems engineered for extreme rigidity and high-accuracy tracking under gravity and wind loads. "By pairing these new antennas with our state-of-the-art technology, we can continue to provide the outstanding performance that customers expect from us on a broader and deeper product offering," said Andre Jones, vice president for business development for CPI ASD.
