Bulava Missile Designer Blames Industry For Test Failures
Moscow, Russia (RIA Novosti) Apr 21, 2010
Yury Solomonov, the designer of the troubled Bulava ballistic missile, said that the poor state of the Russian defense industry was the main cause of the weapon's failed test launches. Solomonov resigned from his post as general director of the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology (MITT) in July 2009 after a series of unsuccessful Bulava tests, but retained his post as general designer of the missile. Swift Catches Its 500th Gamma Ray Burst
Washington DC (SPX) Apr 20, 2010
In its first five years in orbit, NASA's Swift satellite has given astronomers more than they could have hoped for. Its discoveries range from a nearby nascent supernova to a blast so far away that it happened when our universe was only 5 percent of its present age. Swift primarily studies gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) - the biggest and most mysterious explosions in the cosmos. On April 13, the ... more

Is Russia Selling Out Iran
Moscow (RIA Novosti) Apr 21, 2010
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's criticism of Iran during his recent visit to the United States came as a pleasant surprise for the Western and Israeli press. Medvedev said, "Iran is causing some problems", adding that "the most important thing now is for us to find evidence of what their nuclear program is." The Russian president went on to say that Iran either ignores the questions addressed to it or makes suggestive statements. Isn't this enough to silence critics who claim that Russia is in ... read more
