Discovery Facing Local Weather Delays At Cape Canaveral
Houston (UPI) Apr 19, 2010
Shuttle astronauts prepared Monday for a second landing attempt, after rain at Kennedy Space Center forced them to wave off the first of the day's landing opportunities. Rainy conditions remained in the outlook for the day's final Florida landing opportunity, at 10:23 am. If waved off for a second time, NASA planned to land at Edwards AFB in California. Tuesday's forecast for Florida shows an improved weather outlook, but still included a chance of rain showers within 50 km of the shuttle's runway. ... read more

Undeterred by the GSLV-D3 mission failure, India is going ahead with the launch of an advanced remote-sensing satellite Cartosat-2B, now tentatively fixed for May 9 from Sriharikota spaceport. Israel on Friday warned visitors to leave their iPads at home or have the hot-selling tablet computer seized on arrival as the device's wireless signal is 40 times stronger than allowed. Communications ministry spokesman Yechiel Shavi said several of the appliances already impounded by officials at Israel's Ben Gurion airport would be returned to their owners on departure.
