Deep Space Exploration In 5 Years For China

A senior Chinese space agency official said Wednesday that China would actively plan its deep space exploration over the next five years, focusing on lunar and Mars exploration. Sun Laiyan, administrator of the China National Space Administration, said China would study the distribution and utilization of lunar resources and terrestrial planetary science as well as exploring scientific measures for supporting mankind's sustainable survival on Earth.

    MetOp-A Launch Delayed A Second Time

    The launch of the MetOp-A satellite has been postponed for the third straight day due to mechanical problems. The launch was scrubbed two minutes before its scheduled liftoff. The launch of MetOp-A, designed to improve monitoring of weather systems and climate, also was postponed Monday and Tuesday due to problems with the Soyuz rocket. No other specifics have yet been provided.
