Slip Sliding Away On The Red Planet

On February 9, the wake up song for Opportunity was 'Slip Sliding Away' by Simon and Garfunkel in honor of the experience the prior day when Opportunity first tried to scoot up the crater slope at Meridiani Planum. The ambitious rover aimed for its target and willingly went forth up the slope; nevertheless, Opportunity slipped and slid in the sand, making it only half way to its target.

Enigma Of Uranus Solved At Last

Uranus has puzzled scientists ever since the probe Voyager 2 did a flyby in 1986 and found that its magnetic field appeared to break the planetary rulebook. The evidence from Earth, Jupiter and Saturn determined that a planet's magnetic field should be like that of a bar magnet, with a north and south pole that runs roughly along the sphere's rotational axis.
Phoenix Final Rehearsal Goes Well

With the successfully completed taxi tests of Phoenix, EADS SPACE Transportation achieved another milestone this week: At Lemwerder Airport near Bremen, the prototype of a future space transport system proved its ability to detect and automatically correct track deviations on the ground. The braking system also underwent extensive testing.
