Selex ES delivers air defense radars to Poland by Richard Tomkins Rome (UPI) Oct 9, 2015
Three installed air defense fixed radar systems were officially delivered to Poland this week by Selex ES for use in NATO's air defense network. The RAT 31 DL radars are set up at three strategic locations in northeast and southeast Poland under a contract issued by the NATO Communications and Information Agency under NATO's Security Investment Program. The system is a long-range radar with anti-ballistic missile capabilities. Selex ES has provided 59 RAT 31 systems to 13 countries, 10 of them NATO countries. Selex ES, part of Italy's Finmeccanica, in the past has supplied Poland with an automated coastal surveillance system, navigation aids and weather radars. Selex ES turned over the air defense radars this week in a ceremony attended by NATO Communications and Information Agency General Manager Koen Gijsbers and Polish Ministry of Defense and Finmeccanica-Selex ES officials.
