SAS announces expanded Human Spaceflight Safety Services to support deep space and lunar missions

Special Aerospace Services (SAS) has announced the offering of expanded Spaceflight Safety Products and Services that now include support for deep space and lunar missions. SAS developed the expanded line of engineering services to cover the next phase of human spaceflight that will be initiated by inaugural test launches and first human launches in the coming year.

"Human spaceflight is on the verge of experiencing a renaissance thanks to the recent entry into the industry by multiple commercial organizations," said Tim Bulk, SAS Co-Founder and Chief Technical Officer. "We believe our new tools and services can offer a cost-effective and improved safety solution to these new systems."

Tim Bulk and Wayne Hale, SAS Executive Director for Strategic Services and Human Spaceflight, will be available to discuss this announcement at the International Symposium for Personal and Commercial Spaceflight (ISPCS) being held Oct. 11-12, 2018, in Las Cruces, NM.

Over the last 12 years, SAS has been amassing a database of system safety analysis and lessons learned from historical NASA human-certified spacecraft. Through the SAS suite of tools and team of experienced system safety and human spaceflight system engineers, the Boulder firm is now offering the following human spaceflight services customized for deep space and lunar missions:

+Certification of Flight Readiness (CoFR),
+Informed Consent Services,
+Independent Launch Readiness Review, and
+Expanded Systems Safety Review Services.

"The SAS Team is pleased to offer these expanded services and capabilities that will reduce the risk and development time of human spaceflight and significantly improve the probability of mission success," said Wayne Hale, SAS Executive Director for Strategic Services and Human Spaceflight.

Spaceflight Safety is an SAS proprietary and comprehensive approach using programmatic, engineering, and mission assurance methodologies and expertise for achieving success in commercial, deep space and suborbital space launch operations.

"We have been supporting our clients actively in pursuit of human spaceflight and expanded services to NASA and the emerging market, as we see realization of these historic launches in 2019," said Bulk. "As new missions are being discussed and developed, the SAS Team has been quietly working on improved safety approaches for the Lunar Gateway and future lunar landers."
