Rocket Lab Adds Mission to 2024 Launch Schedule, Prepares for Launch in Days

Los Angeles CA (SPX) Oct 17, 2024

Rocket Lab USA, Inc. (Nasdaq: RKLB) has announced a new addition to its 2024 launch schedule, with a commercial Electron rocket mission set to launch in just three days.

The mission, named 'Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes,' will lift off from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1, starting October 19th, to support a confidential commercial client. The launch marks Rocket Lab's fastest turnaround time, with the interval between signing the contract and the scheduled launch date being under two months.

This mission highlights Rocket Lab's capability for rapid deployment, leveraging the company's efficient production of Electron rockets and responsive launch infrastructure to enable short-notice launches. The Electron, known for being the second most frequently launched U.S. orbital rocket, plays a central role in supporting quick-response missions like this one.

The upcoming launch will be Rocket Lab's 12th of the year, setting a new annual record for the company since it began orbital launches in 2018. Rocket Lab has doubled its launch rate for the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year, reflecting a significant increase in rocket production and launch frequency, which is meeting rising demand from commercial satellite customers worldwide.

Rocket Lab's Founder and CEO, Sir Peter Beck, stated, "Electron delivers what other rockets and rideshare programs can't: a dedicated and responsive launch service that is tailored to each customer's specific needs, allowing them to launch to precisely where they want and when they want on incredibly short notice. This quick turnaround from contract to launch is not only a showcase of Electron's capability, but also of the relentless and fast-paced execution by the experienced team behind it that continues to deliver trusted and reliable access to space for our customers."
