ICEYE launches new APIs for direct satellite tasking and data access

Berlin, Germany (SPX) May 07, 2024

ICEYE, a leader in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite technology, has introduced two new application programming interfaces (APIs) that provide customers quicker access to its extensive SAR satellite imagery. These APIs allow for automated interactions and seamless integration with ICEYE's space and ground systems, eliminating the need for manual oversight.

The first of these APIs is designed to automate the satellite tasking process, streamlining operations for customers with their own access platforms. The second API offers a simplified method for requesting imagery from ICEYE's vast archive, which contains over 60,000 images.

"We are thrilled to announce this new service, which makes the world's largest SAR satellite constellation even more accessible to our customers," said John Cartwright, SVP and Head of Data Product. "Customers increasingly seek to integrate access to the ICEYE SAR constellation, the largest in the world, through their own platforms. The end-to-end workflow automation we are releasing today puts this power directly in their hands so they can make smarter, data-driven decisions in near real-time."

With these APIs, ICEYE aims to enhance the way it handles customer requests for SAR data. Users have the option to employ these new tools for automated data access or continue utilizing ICEYE's 24x7 customer support.

"The new APIs enable efficient access to data from ICEYE's constellation like never before. As a trusted partner to governments, civil, and commercial organizations, ensuring the appropriate use of our imagery is a top priority," said Eric Jensen, CEO of ICEYE US. "We conduct rigorous security checks with all prospective customers, and those who meet ICEYE's stringent standards will benefit from unprecedented access to ICEYE SAR data."

These APIs represent the first in a planned series aimed at expanding the range of customer services and enhancing access to global data and imagery provided by ICEYE.
