Globecomm Keeps Earth Stations Mobile


Hauppauge NY - May 31, 1999 -
Globecomm Systems a supplier of satellite earth stations and networks has received an initial order from a multilateral organization for the production of 19 transportable satellite earth terminals with an aggregate value of $1.2 million.

The contract calls for the production of additional terminals over the next eight months with an aggregate value of $3.6 million, should the customer opt to exercise all options.

The terminals will be used as remote earth stations within a satellite network for operations in the Intelsat coverage area of the Atlantic Ocean Region and the Indian Ocean Region.

According to David E. Hershberg, Chairman and CEO of Globecomm Systems, "Our ability to win this multiple terminal contract reflects our growing reputation as a provider of high-quality satellite infrastructure equipment anywhere in the world. "As these terminals are expected to be located in very remote regions, it is particularly important to the customer that the equipment meet the highest levels of quality, performance and reliability with minimum maintenance requirements."

Globecomm Systems designs, assembles and installs ground segment systems and networks which support a wide range of satellite communications applications, including fixed, mobile and direct broadcast services as well as military applications.

The Company's customers include prime communications infrastructure contractors, government-owned PTTs, other telecommunications carriers, producers and distributors of news and entertainment content and other corporations.

Through its subsidiary, NetSat Express, Inc., the Company provides satellite based Internet access services, digital media distribution services, and integrated data, voice and video communications services.
