General Dynamics to support U.S. Army Stryker program

General Dynamics Land Systems has received a $75 million contract to provide engineering and integration services for the U.S. Army's Stryker vehicle.

Under the contract, General Dynamics will provide engineering for the design and integration of a 30mm cannon to be mounted on the Army's infantry carrier vehicle platform. The contract includes the development of eight prototypes.

The contract award comes as part of the Army's planned improvements its fleet of Stryker vehicles, which aim to bolster their defenses against threats such as improvised explosive devices. Upgrades will include additional armor, redesigned hatches, and a remote weapon station.

Work on the contract will be performed in Sterling Heights, Mich., and is expected to be completed by January 2021.
