Reston VA (SPX) Jan 27, 2005 iDirect Technologies has announced an agreement with Pronto Networks to incorporate the company's Operations Support System (OSS) into its product offering to deliver last mile, wireless connectivity via satellite. This agreement will make iDirect a preferred reseller of Pronto Networks' solutions to the VSAT industry, and will allow new or existing iDirect customers to deploy and manage large-scale, public hotspot and hot zone networks. "Pronto Networks' OSS software is a great addition to the iDirect platform," said John Kealey, President and CEO of iDirect Technologies. "We are committed to not only providing the most powerful VSAT communications solution in the industry, but also incorporating the tools to help our customers deploy and manage networks, cut cost, and increase profitability. "With the addition of the Pronto software, service providers utilizing the iDirect solution will be able to easily provision and manage remote networks that deliver broadband connectivity comparable to the quality and performance of digital terrestrial circuits such as DSL or Cable." Pronto Networks' OSS software handles provisioning, configuration, authentication, access control, security, pre-paid and post-paid billing, and roaming settlement for large public WLAN networks. The software platform offers service providers a cost-effective, end-to-end solution that will enable them to quickly enter the market, expand their footprint, and achieve a rapid ROI. Integrating this capability into iDirect enabled networks will greatly simplify the process and reduce the cost of deploying remote wireless broadband IP networks. "This is a great opportunity to work with a leader in the satellite broadband access space to bring reliable wireless access to potentially millions of end-users," said Jasbir Singh, President and CEO of Pronto Networks. "This partnership demonstrates the flexibility of the Pronto platform to support satellite networks, in addition to traditional wired backhaul solutions. By combining our flexible back office software with the iDirect platform, Pronto and iDirect will enable service providers to quickly and easily deploy carrier-grade, scalable Wi-Fi networks anywhere in the world." The addition of the Pronto OSS solution will allow iDirect satellite service providers to cost-effectively serve a broad number of users with a single satellite uplink/downlink to multiple hotspot locations as well as entire rural communities or 'hot zones.' Pronto's WLAN solution can also help improve employee productivity in locations that already have satellite access, such as quick service restaurants, gas stations, and retail stores.
