Steadicopter Completes New Unmanned Autonomous Helicopter

Steadicopter has completed the development of an unmanned fully autonomous helicopter, operated without a human pilot. The helicopter performs fully autonomously, including all the aspects of the flight: takeoff, hovering, waypoints flight and landing while transmitting video images in real time.

Flight details and routes are fed from a standard PC at the ground station before the flight, with the possibility of interfering, changing mission, orders and commands (directions, flight speed and altitudes) throughout the course of the flight. The operation of the system does not require previous skills and experience.

The innovative flight control system was developed by Tuvia Segal (CEO), a development team of control, software, hardware, and algorithm personnel and a testing pilot. The development of the system is a breakthrough in the area of Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) UAVs, and can be applicable also to big commercial helicopters.

The system was tested and performed well in difficult weather conditions and wind shear of up to 20 knots.

The first product of Steadicopter is designed to fly at around few hundreds feet, with an operation range of 10 KM, and flight duration of around 90 minutes.

These days the Company carries out live demonstrations of autonomous flights to potential customers and partners in order to set up strategic partnerships in the civil and military sectors.

Marketing Manager, Mr. Amir Rochman says that the size of the potential markets is estimated in billion dollars and includes a wide range of applications, such as: military, security, police, traffic control, surveillance, media, agriculture, high voltage line inspection and more.

The company's CEO, Mr. Tuvia Segal, says that the company is preparing for a capital raising, in order to enhance the marketing activities throughout strategic partnerships with leading companies in the global industry.

Steadicopter plans to develop and apply the control system for other hovering platforms and airborne vehicles that will enable the company to benefit from the technological and commercial potential of the innovation.

The company was established in 1999 as part of the Technion incubator program. The main shareholders of the company are Mr. Yehzkiel Rochman (ITAS Ltd.), Mr. Yoel Carraso and Mr. Yossi Cabiri.

Herley Reaches Agreement To Acquire Reliable System Services

Herley Industries announced Tuesday it has reached an agreement in principle to acquire Reliable System Services Corporation (RSS), Melbourne, FL. The acquisition, which is subject to the execution of a formal written agreement and certain closing conditions, is expected to close in approximately thirty days.
