L-3 Communications Joins Skybridge Partnership

SkyBridge will provide telecom operators and service providers with broadband access capacity, enabling them to offer high-speed, highly interactive multimedia services to business and residential users anywhere in the world via a constellation of 80 low earth orbiting satellites.

L-3 Communications has become a SkyBridge shareholder and industrial partner, working in concert with SkyBridge and other partners to deliver the next generation of broadband services via satellite.

"L-3 brings a wealth of development expertise to the partnership along with extensive terrestrial wireless and high-speed satellite data delivery experience. L-3's role as terminal supplier for SkyBridge adds both diversity and additional expertise to this critical component of the SkyBridge access system."

The L-3 terminals will allow high-speed Internet access for home and business users worldwide. Terminals will be available in home, small office-home office (SOHO) and large business classes. The terminals will allow access to the worldwide SkyBridge network at very attractive prices.

A 'Start-1' rocket carrying the Swedish satellite 'Odin' is set for launch at 11:48 a.m. Moscow time on Tuesday, the press service for the Russian Strategic Missile Force has announced.
