The U.S. Air Force announced an agreement with Jeppesen to provide iPad-based electronic flight bag services for about 1,160 Mobility Air Force aircraft.

The agreement will have Jeppesen servicing over 16,000 Air Force users of Apple's iPad. The Mobility Air Force aircraft will be fitted with Jeppsen's electronic flight bag solution program, Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro, which will provide navigation information for both military fleet programs and commercial aviation operators.

Electronic flight bags are mobile-based electronic information management systems that allow flight crews to manage flight tasks more easily, and without using as much paper. Jeppesen's new application, FliteDeck Pro, will now feature more mobile data for the Mobility Air Force fleet.

"We are pleased to team with the U.S. Air Force to support essential mission-based planning, navigation and operational programs through our iPad-based EFB services," Jeppesen president Thomas Wede said in a statement.

Aircraft that will be equipped with Jeppesen's FliteDeck Pro include the C-5, C-17, C-130, KC-135, KC-10, and several other executive and support aircraft. The software will provide pilots with communication information, operational notes, weather conditions and airport runway details. All the data will be centrally managed by the company's Distribution Manager Pro secure network, built for Air Force.

Jeppesen is part of Boeing's Commercial Aviation Services.
