ICEYE unveils Dwell Fine for enhanced earth observation with SAR imaging

ICEYE, a pioneer in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite technology, has announced the launch of its Dwell Fine imaging mode, a significant advancement in Earth Observation and persistent monitoring capabilities. This new mode enhances the existing Dwell mode and builds on the advancements of the Spot Fine mode introduced in June 2023. Dwell Fine offers a remarkable 50-centimeter resolution, enabling detailed analysis of terrestrial changes, precise identification of aircraft and ships, and in-depth exploration of man-made structures amid natural settings.

The introduction of Dwell Fine positions ICEYE as the sole provider of such advanced commercial SAR satellite imagery. In Dwell Fine mode, satellites focus their radar on a specific Earth surface area for 25 seconds-more than double the duration of standard Spot imaging. This extended imaging time allows for unprecedented detail in observing aircraft structures, identifying thin objects like power lines, and assessing damage to infrastructure. The mode also supports short video generation from sequential images, offering insights into the movement, direction, and speed of vessels.

Dwell Fine's enhanced imaging capabilities are particularly effective in distinguishing between artificial and natural features, with the extended angle range of Dwell mode offering improved visibility through vegetative cover.

Since launching its Dwell mode in May 2023, ICEYE has demonstrated its commitment to innovation and its role in providing cutting-edge Earth Observation solutions to both the private and public sectors. The Dwell Fine mode underlines ICEYE's dedication to offering the most advanced SAR imagery available, reaffirming its status as the operator of the world's largest SAR satellite constellation.

ICEYE's unique radar antenna technology, controlled by sophisticated software, allows for dynamic focusing of radar beams on targeted areas, enabling a range of imaging modes from highly detailed Dwell Fine to expansive area coverage.
