Since 2020, NASA's CSDA program has been acquiring data from commercial sources, including ICEYE, to support the scientific research objectives of the Earth Science Division.

Unlike traditional Earth observation satellites, SAR satellites can gather data day and night, through cloud cover, and under challenging conditions. SAR technology's millimeter-level accuracy allows detailed analysis of Earth's surface features, which is vital for scientific research. ICEYE's constellation stands out by offering both wide-area and targeted datasets with a high revisit rate, enhancing its scientific value and supporting critical research.
