by Staff Writers
Germantown MD (SPX) Apr 29, 2013

The Hughes 9502 BGAN M2M IP satellite terminal delivers affordable, end-to-end data connectivity reliably over Inmarsat's global BGAN service for IP SCADA and M2M applications.

Hughes Network Systems reports that its new Hughes 9502 BGAN M2M (machine-to-machine) terminal with integrated antenna has been fully 'Type Approved' by Inmarsat, and commercial shipments have begun.

Hughes is a major provider of M2M satellite solutions, and was originally selected by Inmarsat to develop the 9502 BGAN M2M terminal for its global BGAN service.

The new all-in-one 9502 terminal with integrated antenna further simplifies site installation and support, and has industry- best "always on" low power consumption and IP-66 weather protection rating, ideal for extreme weather conditions.

"Inmarsat's M2M services enable a wide range of applications across markets ranging from energy and environmental monitoring to banking and utilities," said Ronald Spithout, president, Enterprise at Inmarsat.

"The launch of an integrated antenna variant of the Hughes 9502 BGAN M2M terminal expands Inmarsat's M2M product portfolio to offer customers the best-fit solution to meet their specific requirements."

"Hughes continues to demonstrate our dedication to the M2M market by expanding its BGAN M2M terminal portfolio with a fully integrated terminal, achieving the same remarkable low power consumption our 9502 customers enjoy today," said Graham Avis, vice president and general manager of Hughes San Diego.

"This new integrated antenna version of our highly successful 9502 is suitable for long-term, IP-66 rated pole mounting in extreme conditions and harsh environments, offering customers greater flexibility and choices."

The Hughes 9502 BGAN M2M IP satellite terminal delivers affordable, end-to-end data connectivity reliably over Inmarsat's global BGAN service for IP SCADA and M2M applications in industry sectors such as environmental monitoring, SmartGrid, pipeline monitoring, well site automation, and surveillance, as well as for out-of-band management and back-up to primary site communications.
