C-COM And iDirect Deliver Mobile Vehicle Satellite Solutions

C-COM Satellite Systems has adapted its iNetVu Mobile Platform to work seamlessly with iDirect Technologies NetModem II products to produce bi-directional satellite-based broadband access solutions using Internet protocols.

The proprietary iNetVu Mobile satellite platform when coupled with the iDirect NetModem II is capable of delivering Internet access, video and VoIP into vehicles, while stationary, at speeds of up to 18Mbps on the download and 4.2Mbps upstream anywhere in the world where one has access to satellite connectivity.

"We are pleased to be able to offer our iNetVu Mobile self pointing antenna solution to iDirect customers world wide. The combined solution will provide customers the ability to automatically locate their satellite of choice from a vehicle or moveable structure anywhere in the world in under 3 minutes by a simple click of the mouse and be instantly connected to the Internet at broadband speeds, said Leslie Klein, President and CEO of C-COM Satellite Systems."

The iNetVu Mobile systems configured with iDirect modems have been already delivered to Government Agencies, Film Production companies, Oil and Gas Exploration and other resource based companies as well as to Fire Fighting Teams and Utility companies world wide.

Akron, OH based VSAT Systems developed a mobile satellite platform called the Emergency Mobile Communications System (EMCS) utilizing the iNetVu self pointing antenna and the iDirect satellite router.

The system was deployed for use in the hurricane-ravaged state of Florida to aid relief efforts by the State Department of Financial Services.

With the ability to have high speed Internet connectivity available in a vehicle, coupled with voice and video and be able to communicate from virtually any part of the world instantaneously, the market for the iNetVu/iDirect type solution is expected to grow rapidly.
