Plainview - May 28, 1999 - UTMC Microelectronic Systems Inc. (UTMC) a subsidiary of Aeroflex Incorporated (NYSE: ARX - news) announced the development of a low cost family of 4 Megabit SRAMs for space-borne applications. The UTXQ512 512K x 8 memory is suited for all space applications that require high reliability combined with moderate radiation tolerance. "These products are the latest addition to UTMC's space memory family," said Anthony Jordan, UTMC standard product line manager. "UTMC offers the UTXQ512 SRAMs to satisfy an emerging need in the commercial space community and are targeted specifically for LEO satellites and communication satellite payloads. UTMC is developing a full line of cost-effective, high-density memories. Within a year we anticipate adding several additional components for the space community, including an additional 4M SRAM with enhanced radiation hardness." "Due to the memory density requirements for advanced communication payloads, traditional radiation-hardened SRAMs are not cost effective, and alternative solutions are required," continued Jordan. "UTMC UTXQ512 SRAMs provide speed, hardness, and reliability at a low-cost. Prototypes are expected to be available in July with production delivery expected to start in August." UTMC, an Aeroflex company, is a supplier of semicustom and standard VLSI circuits and custom circuit card assemblies and is dedicated to the satellite, aerospace and defense marketplace. Aeroflex Incorporated, through its subsidiaries, utilizes advanced technologies to provide state-of-the-art microelectronic module, integrated circuit, interconnect and testing solutions used in communication applications for commercial and defense markets.
