Advocacy in Action: Join the Fight Against LACoFD's Solar Battery Blockade

Los Angeles CA (SPX) Mar 20, 2024

The solar industry in Los Angeles County is currently at a standstill due to the Los Angeles County Fire Department's (LACoFD) decision to halt permits for solar battery installations. Directed by Chief Stillwagon and purportedly supported by the State Fire Marshal, this blockade, effective since October 2023, has halted the county's progress towards embracing renewable energy.

Chief Stillwagon has cited safety concerns as the rationale behind these unappealable permit rejections, despite the installations meeting the California Energy Commission (CEC) Solar Battery Equipment List and UL 9450A certifications requirements. This move has sparked significant backlash from stakeholders within the solar industry, who see it as a direct challenge to state mandates and a hindrance to California's renewable energy goals.

In an effort to address these concerns, a crucial meeting has been scheduled, providing a platform for industry stakeholders to voice their grievances and seek a resolution. The details of the meeting are as follows:

Date: March 21, 2024
Time: 3:00 PM PST
Location: Microsoft Teams (For link information, email [email protected])

Bradley Bartz, President of ABC Solar Incorporated, has been at the forefront of rallying stakeholders to participate in this meeting. The blockade has not only affected his business but also the broader solar community, highlighting the urgent need for collective action.

Stakeholders are encouraged to join the meeting and share their experiences, highlighting the adverse effects of the blockade on their operations and the solar industry at large. This collective effort aims to challenge the blockade's justifications and push for a resolution that aligns with California's renewable energy objectives.

Participation in this meeting is crucial. Stakeholders interested in joining should contact Bradley Bartz at [email protected] or call 1-310-373-3169 to receive the Microsoft Teams link. This meeting represents a pivotal moment for the solar industry in Los Angeles County, offering a chance to advocate for innovation, safety, and environmental stewardship in the face of the LACoFD's blockade.
