The government of Taiwan has contracted Exelis and partner U&U Engineering to provide night vision tubes for delivery before July.

The contract, which was competitively awarded, is worth more than $10 million.

"This is our first contract award of night vision equipment for the Taiwanese military, and we will work diligently with our partner U&U Engineering to deliver our renowned Gen 3 quality tubes," said Nick Bobay, president and general manager of Exelis Night Vision and Communications Solutions. "We believe this is just the first of many opportunities for Exelis and U&U to support the Taiwanese military with our night vision equipment and other products as needed."

Exelis said the Generation-3 night vision tube equipment it will deliver is designed for a variety of night operations and will provide clear, advanced visibility and greater mobility in low-light conditions.

No information was provided on the number of units to be provided but Exelis said they would be manufactured at its facility in Roanoke, VA.
