Russia to receive six more S-400 Triumf systems

The Russian Aerospace Force plans to receive six more S-400 Triumf long-range anti-aircraft missile systems this year, the TASS news agency reported Sunday.

"The industry is approaching the planned amounts, and thus this year we shall receive six S-400 systems, and next year the mount would be similar," force Commander in Chief Col. Gen. Viktor Bondarev was quoted as saying by Tass. "We have everything necessary to protect our air borders."

Bondarev said the S-400 system has proven to be highly reliable within military units. The S-400 Triumf is the latest version of a system that entered service in 2007.

It is designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, including medium-range missile threats.

The S-400 can also be used against ground targets. It can be used to engage targets as far away as 250 miles and as high up as 18 miles.
