Boeing selects UTC for U.S. Air Force C-17 landing gear
by Ryan Maass
Charlotte, N.C. (UPI) Feb 9, 2016

Boeing has selected UTC Aerospace to provide landing gear for the U.S. Air Force fleet of C-17 aircraft in addition to AH-64E Apache helicopter support.

The selection supports Boeing's contract with the U.S. Air Force, in addition to continued production support for Apache helicopters. UTC Landing Systems president Jim Wharton says the contract moves the relationship between the two companies forward.

"We are pleased to have been selected by Boeing to support worldwide C-17 Globemaster III sustainment requirements, and to have been selected as the future supplier of all AH-64 Apache landing gear requirements," Wharton said in a statement. "We look forward to the continued relationship with Boeing on these two military platforms."

The C-17 Globemaster III is an airlifter designed for the rapid and strategic deployment of troops or supporting equipment to main operation or forward bases in a deployment area.

The Boeing-made AH-64E Apache helicopter is a multirole attack helicopter used by the U.S. Army and other armed forces around the world. The aircraft is armed with laser-guided precision Hellfire missiles, a 30mm automatic cannon, and 70mm rockets.

The value of the contract and other terms were not disclosed.
