Stardust On Route For Sample Return To Earth
Washington (AFP) Jan 12, 2006
After a seven-year journey, US space probe Stardust is scheduled to deliver to Earth on Sunday samples of rare dust it has collected from stars and comets that scientists believe could offer vital clues about the solar system's origins. A capsule weighing 46 kilograms and carrying a teaspoonful of space dust is expected to land in a Utah desert at 1012 GMT Sunday after flying 4.63 billion kilometers in space. fullstory

Astronomers Weigh "Recycled" Millisecond Pulsar
Washington DC (SPX) Jan 13, 2006
A team of U.S. and Australian astronomers announced Thursday that they have, for the first time, precisely measured the mass of a millisecond pulsar - a tiny, dead star spinning hundreds of times every second. This result is of special interest because it gives new insight into the production of millisecond pulsars and may shed light on the laws that govern nuclear matter.
