Contour will provide the first detailed look at the differences between these primitive building blocks of the solar system, and answer questions about how comets act and evolve as they speed toward the sun. "Humankind has looked at comets for centuries and yet we know amazingly little about them. That's about to change. We are about to enter a golden area of cometary investigation," said Colleen Hartman, director of NASA Solar System Exploration.
