The Russian Space Agency (RSA) has found a sponsor for constructing a spacecraft that will deliver tourists to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2011, as Agency's Deputy Chief Vitaly Davydov reported at the Farnborough Air Show on Tuesday.
Mr. Davydov reminded that not long ago RSA could send only one tourist to the orbit on the three man Soyuz spacecraft.
However, in 2009 this opportunity will not be longer available due to the Soyuz crew size is going to increase up to six members.
"That was the reason why we wanted to construct a special spacecraft to make sending tourists to space possible", Mr. Davydov said.
He has also reported that now RSA has a party interested in purchasing this spacecraft and carrying out the flights.
