iDirect Achieves Major Landmark With Shipment Of Their 200th VSAT Hub
iDirect Technologies has announced the sale of their 200th IP based hub router solution to Telefonica CTC in Chile. This sale makes iDirect the top manufacturer of VSAT satellite hub routers worldwide. The iDirect family of hub router solutions allows satellite service providers to offer broadband service over satellite that matches the quality and performance of broadband terrestrial networks. iDirect makes this announcement less than a year after announcing their new groundbreaking iNFINITI series of VSAT Hubs and remote routers. "This is a great achievement for the iDirect team," said John Kealey, CEO of iDirect Technologies. "In just four years iDirect has established itself as the leading solution for efficient, flexible broadband IP over satellite in the world. Across every department in the company we have focused our efforts on meeting the needs of our customers and their customers. As we continue to introduce better technology to meet these needs, we have seen greater acceleration of market adoption of the iDirect solution." After shipping their first hub in Q1 2002, iDirect achieved their first benchmark of 100 hubs sold worldwide in just two and a half years. The company was able to ship the second 100 in less than 10 months. The accelerated growth is in part due to the launch of their new iNFINITI Series VSAT platform, and its unique ability to support multiple networks with various requirements for satellite band, topologies or bandwidth from a single hub chassis. The resulting solution allows satellite network operators to support any combination of network applications to thousands of remote sites supporting virtually any mix of customer profiles. Telefonica CTC Chile will install the hub in Santiago to launch its global broadband network. This follows the recent installation of the Telefonica Hub in Argentina that now has country wide coverage and presents Telefonica a unified platform in the region on which to provide Broadband IP services to its customer base.
