Andrew Corp Offers Low Cost, Ku-Band Unit for Rural Telephony and IP

Orland Park - Mar 23, 2004
Andrew Corporation introduces its new Ku-band system that includes the Type 120 1.2-meter Receive/Transmit Offset Satellite Antenna, 1 watt Block Up-Converter, Low Noise Block Down-Converter, and Non-Penetrating Roof Mount.

This low cost system, particularly suited for rural telephony and Internet applications, can save operator costs both at installation and through years of trouble-free service.

Pre-assembled components reduce on-site installation time. A one-piece thermoset-molded reflector offers superior surface accuracy, and cadmium-plated corrosion-resistant hardware enables the antenna to provide long term, maintenance-free service in any environment.

The Andrew network grade Type 120 VSAT antenna is performance matched with our 1 watt Ku-band Block Up-Converter (BUC) and digital Low Noise Block Down-Converter (LNB). For flat roof installations, our corrosion resistant, Non-Penetrating Roof Mount was designed to survive wind speeds of up to 125 mph.

The system meets or exceeds most electrical, mechanical, and environmental performance specifications for Ku-band receive/transmit antennas. Antenna fine elevation is easily achieved with a single bolt adjustment. Molded-in ribs at the back of the reflector add strength and keep the correct parabolic shape for improved transmit accuracy.

"Our 1.2-meter antenna system is durable and easy to install," said Joan Byrnes, Vice President and General Manager, Satellite Communications, Andrew Corporation.

"It meets the needs of rural telephony operators or Internet service providers who require a low cost, complete system that can be installed and essentially forgotten. Andrew is the world's leading supplier of VSAT antenna systems because we not only manufacture in high volume, but we can supply everything an operator needs from a single source."

Andrew offers product integration, customized design and sourcing, warehousing, and logistics and distribution services for all VSAT antennas. Our complete antenna product line includes configurations from 43 cm to 9.4 meters for both consumer and enterprise applications.
