Hughes Network Systems Scores A Prized Ham With VSAT Order

dishing out the ham
Germantown - Jan 19, 2004
Hughes Network Systems will provide The Original HoneyBaked Ham Company with broadband network connectivity via Direcway to more than 100 of the company's corporate-owned properties across the United States.

With Direcway, HoneyBaked Ham stores have access to a private, always-on network supporting back office applications such as in-store polling, remote monitoring, and a real-time interface with the HoneyBaked Ham corporate portal. HoneyBaked Ham is also using Direcway to provide in-restaurant music, Web applications, and employee training.

"In less than 30 days, HNS connected more than 100 of our corporate stores, which are spread across the U.S.," said Bill Bolton, director of information technology for HoneyBaked Ham.

"HNS' scalable solution was the clear choice for us because of its ability to span diverse geographical locations, which is increasingly important as our nationwide locations depend on browser-based, network-centric applications that require broadband."

With Direcway, all HoneyBaked Ham properties will experience faster customer transaction speeds and improved success rates of nightly polling than would be possible with a dialup service.
