Tialinx Awarded By DARPA To Develop RF Beamforming Chip For Gigabit Wireless Apps

Irvine CA (SPX) Dec 02, 2005
TiaLinx, a developer of Wafer Scale Antenna Arrays, has announced that it has received a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase I award from the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA).

The objective of this program with DARPA is to address feasibility of using TiaLinx's propriety integrated RF Beamforming technology, focusing on ultra-wideband modulation operating at extreme frequencies for Giga-band signaling applications. The device will require very low power to operate and has a substantial reduction in mass and volume.

"TiaLinx is proud to receive this Phase I SBIR award from DARPA, as it indicates the significance of the technological breakthrough that is being developed," commented Dr. Fred Mohamadi, Founder and CEO of TiaLinx.

"TiaLinx's highly integrated beamforming technology is revolutionizing multi-discipline DOD projects while paving the road to play a key role in emerging UWB wireless communication markets."

High resolution, low-power RF beamforming technology of TiaLinx addresses applications such as early warning radar, ad hoc communication, point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless connectivity, radiometry and passive-medical imaging, mobility aids for blinds, homeland security and surveillance, and collision avoidance systems.
