L-3 Narda Satellite Networks Awarded Contract Valued at $30 Million

L-3 Communications said Tuesday that its Narda Satellite Networks division has been awarded a $30.0 million interim, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) task order contract to provide deployable Satellite Communications Systems, Subsystems and components, as well as maintenance support to The Space and Naval Warfare System Center (SPAWAR) in Tampa, FL. The company has received the first task order under this contract for a quantity of AN/USC-60A Terminals (FTSAT) valued at $15.75 million for the U.S. Air Force.

L-3 Narda Satellite Networks will manufacture, integrate, test, commission and provide maintenance for current SATCOM Products, including the FlyAway Tri-Band Terminals (AN/USC-60A), the Mobile Quad-Band Dual Hub Terminals (AN/TSC-161) and variants thereof, all of which are based on the design of the AN/USC-60A.

SPAWAR's Tampa facilities provide administrative, program management and contractual support to government support elements and military end-users. The SPAWAR objective is to provide program direction and problem resolution aimed at reducing acquisition and operating costs.

"L-3 Narda Satellite Networks provides a vital support function for the rapid theatre deployable tactical communications for Department of Defense (DoD) mission requirements," said John Mega, president of L-3 Narda Satellite Networks. "For over ten years, our company has provided SATCOM solutions to the U.S. Government, and we are pleased to have received this award."

The business designs and manufactures state-of-the-art passive and active microwave components and subsystems with applications in the wireless, commercial, space and military markets.
