Titan Corp said Thrusday that it has been awarded a $32.9 million contract modification by the Air Forceďż˝s Electronic Systems Center (ESC), headquartered at Hanscom AFB, MA, to integrate four near-real-time intelligence broadcast systems into a single integrated, interactive service architecture for the Department of Defense's joint service Integrated Broadcast Service (IBS) program.

With this modification, Titan will add the delivery of a final operating capability and technology to support regional combatant commands.

"Titan's successful delivery of the IBS Interim Capability less than 13 months after contract award is yet another example of the company's proven strength as a leading developer and integrator of complex, mission-critical systems," said Gene Ray, Titan's president, chairman, and CEO.

"We look forward to delivering these additional capabilities in support of the U.S. Armed Services."

The primary mission of IBS is to disseminate to military commanders time-critical information through a single service, affording commanders with an easier means to request and receive essential intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance information.

By rapidly sorting and funneling relevant data, IBS bolsters the warfighters' ability to execute their mission through shared awareness and intelligence, increased speed of command, and higher tempo and lethality of operations.

The Optus and Defence C1 communications satellite, built by Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) under contract from Mitsubishi Electric Corporation for Optus of Australia, was successfully launched today at 6:38pm EDT 22:38 GMT, sent into space from the Spaceport at Kourou, French Guiana aboard an Ariane 5 rocket.
