Shanghai, China (SPX) Jul 14, 2004
Sky Light Communication and LocatioNet Systems announced Tuesday their agreement to introduce advanced location-based services (LBS) in the Chinese wireless market.

According to the agreement, LocatioNet will provide Sky Light with its LBS Middleware, Geo Toolbox, and two of its LBS applications: MyMap and Fleet & Workforce management. The two companies will join forces in the creation and integration of the LBS solutions with the local Chinese mobile operators.

Sky Light Communication is a new Chinese Joint Venture formed by LIESMARS (a well known reputable Chinese Government-owned GIS institution) and Sky Light Communications (a subsidiary of the Shougang Group and the Cheng Kong conglomerate).

Sky Light intends to offer to the Chinese mobile operators a rich set of LBS applications based on the comprehensive Chinese GIS content collected by LIESMARS. The LocatioNet middleware and Geo Toolbox will be used by Sky Light as the service delivery platform.

The LocatioNet development tools, available over the LocatioNet system, will assist Sky Light to become a GIS broker for its high-quality Chinese GIS content, to local mobile application developers. These developers will benefit from a ready-made powerful LBS function-set, shortening time to market.

"We are very impressed with LocatioNet's technology and products, and its seamless adaptation to our Chinese GIS database" said Eric Z. G. Liu, Director and vice president of Sky Light.

"We are confident that this combination of our rich Chinese GIS content and LocatioNet's powerful service delivery engine can soon lead to business success in China through rapid commercial service launch."

"The LBS market in China is expected to grow fast over the next few years with our aim to play a major role in it".

"We are very excited about this collaboration with Sky Light" said Ofer Tziperman, President & CEO of LocatioNet Systems.

"The fast growing Chinese mobile market represents a major opportunity for LBS. We see Sky Light as a valued strategic partner for accessing this opportunity. We are confident that the leading position of LIESMARS in the Chinese GIS industry will position Sky Light in the forefront of Chinese LBS players" added Tziperman.

"The introduction of new color handsets with improved position accuracy is an important market driver. Experience in recent years proves that compelling LBS applications with rich graphic user interface are key for user acceptance, making quality GIS content ever important for commercial success."

"Sky Light is well positioned to lead this market, making it the ideal partner for LocatioNet".

This new agreement is the direct result of LocatioNet's strategic efforts in the rapidly growing Chinese market with the contribution of LIESMARS's management of relationships with Chinese governmental and academic organizations.

LocatioNet formed a local representation in Shanghai, headed by Mr. Light Zhou that has been able to quickly match the technological superiority of LocatioNet with the appropriate leading Chinese partners.
