Scheduled for launch in 2006, TerraSAR-X is the first satellite built through a public-private partnership (PPP) in Germany, with EADS-Astrium GmbH and the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) sharing the costs of satellite construction and positioning.

Infoterra GmbH, the exclusive commercial TerraSAR-X radar satellite data provider, has chosen Spot Image as an agent with exclusivity in several territories and markets for the sale of all products and services derived from the future satellite.

From 2006, TerraSAR-X will be the first commercially available radar satellite to offer one-metre resolution. TerraSAR-X will provide a highly reliable observation capability, as radar satellites collect data independent of cloud cover or solar illumination.
