Space Imaging Offers Online Shopping Cart At Last

a full size extract from an Ikonos 1 meter resolution image
Denver - Jan 30, 2003
Space Imaging is now offering the ability to purchase worldwide Geo 1-meter and 4-meter resolution Ikonos satellite imagery through Space Imaging's Internet portal, Carterra Online. The Ikonos archive has more than 900,000 images taken in just the past three years.

By using the newly redesigned Carterra Online customers can order the Geo product in three easy steps. Customers can define their custom area and Carterra Online will instantly calculate the total square kilometers and cost. The footprint of the area can be adjusted until the correct area and specifications are defined.

Once the desired area has been selected, the imagery can be ordered directly online using multiple payment methods including a secure credit card transaction.

The custom area will be processed and delivered to the customer by FedEx. Secure electronic delivery can also be established. Orders have a minimum purchase of 49 sq. km. and are typically fulfilled in less than 24 hours.

"Our Geo product has always been our most popular and now we've made purchasing it quick and easy," said Gene Colabatistto, president of Space Imaging, Solutions.

"Customers can now directly define, view, select and purchase 1- and 4-meter Ikonos GEO imagery any time of the day or night and receive that data in a very short time."

Ikonos Geo imagery is georeferenced and is available in black-and-white, color or multispectral. It has a horizontal accuracy of up to 15-meters (ce90) not including effects of terrain.

Another new product recently added to Carterra Online is One-Meter USA of 16 cities and related counties in the U.S. One-Meter USA is $25 per sq. km. and has a minimum purchase of only 1 sq. km. These city datasets of Ikonos imagery are mosaicked, tonally balanced and orthorectified to 10-meter (ce90), or NMAS 1:12,000.

Customers follow the same steps for ordering online Geo products and, depending on the size, have it delivered online or by FedEx. Space Imaging plans to load more than 150 metropolitan areas.

One-Meter USA is ideal for local government planning, emergency management, utilities infrastructure and homeland security. The entire countries of Puerto Rico and Jamaica are also available.

"Ikonos leads the market in its quality of accuracy, and One-Meter USA reflects this excellence in the precision of its map accuracy," said Mindy Brown, executive director of Space Imaging's E-Business.

"Customers quickly obtain an area and use it almost immediately since we've orthorectified and mosaicked the images for them. Because of the 1 sq. km. minimum order size, One-Meter USA is great for small quick projects. It's also dually suited for an entire city or county because of the large areas we have mosaicked."

In addition, Space Imaging continues to load entire states of its colorized 5-meter resolution satellite imagery from the Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) satellites. Customers can order the 5-meter, cloud-free, panchromatic, orthorectified imagery in the same three easy steps and have the order quickly filled for $1.80 per sq. km.
