Dave Gorney Made VP At The Aerospace Corporation; Rita Lollock Appointed GM
Dr. William F. Ballhaus Jr., president and chief executive officer of The Aerospace Corporation, has announced that Dr. David J. Gorney has been promoted to vice president of Space Program Operations effective October 1. He will replace Stephen E. Burrin who is retiring from the corporation. Ballhaus, in an announcement to employees on September 13, also named Rita M. Lollock to replace Gorney as general manager of the Navigation Division. Dr. Gorney's appointment was approved by the board of trustees at their quarterly meeting, held September 7�9 in Colorado Springs, Colo. "I am very pleased to announce the appointments of Dave and Rita to these key positions," said Ballhaus. "They have the depth and breadth of experience to ensure that our customers are provided with the scientific and engineering resources necessary to support their vital space missions. I applaud Steve for a distinguished career at Aerospace and for his invaluable contributions to the development and operation of critical national-security space systems over the years." Gorney, in his new position, will be responsible for the company's support to all Air Force and Navy satellite programs. He has held a number of other key leadership positions since joining the company in 1979, including principal director of four organizations: the Office of Research and Technical Applications, Office of Research and Engineering, Defense Support Program, and Meteorological Satellite Systems. He was corporate chief architect/engineer before being named general manager of the Navigation Division in October 2002.
She advances from principal director of Systems Engineering in the Navigation Division. Before that she was principal director of GPS III and Military Applications, systems director of GPS III, and systems director of GPS User Equipment Development and Integration. Burrin has been with the company since 1971. His achievements include managing advanced technology initiatives and laboratory and space demonstration programs, helping direct initial architectural studies and planning activities for the Strategic Defense Initiative, and directing support for space-based surveillance and communications programs.
