![]() TAIPEI (AFP) Apr 13, 2005 Chi Mei Optoelectronics Corp, the world's fourth largest flat panel manufacturer, said Wednesday it has signed a licensing agreement with US-based Honeywell International Inc. The agreement allows Chi Mei to use several Honeywell technologies in thin-film-transistor liquid crystal display products, the company said in a statement. The two companies also agreed on cross-licensing of other patents but Chi Mei declined to disclose details. LCD panels are widely used in products such as desktop PC monitors, notebook computers, LCD TVs, cellphones, personal digital assistants, portable DVD players, video game systems and digital cameras. Honeywell has already licensed one of its key patented technologies to Chi Mei's rivals LG Philips LCD, Samsung Electronics, NEC LCD Technologies and Sharp Corp. For the whole of 2005, Chi Mei Optoelectronics expects to ship 20 million panels, compared with 14 million in 2004. All rights reserved. copyright 2018 Agence France-Presse.
