Anglo-Dutch technology services company, LogicaCMG, said Thursday it will hire 1,000 people for its Indian outsourcing operation in 2005, making it the fastest growing unit of the company.

Martin Read, group chief executive, said its India unit would have 2,200 employees by the end of 2005.

"It will be the third largest operation by headcount after the UK and the Netherlands by the end of 2005," Read said in a statement.

He said the additional employees would support its outsourcing growth plans and the South Asia operations.

One-third of the firm's revenues would come from the outsourcing sector and LogicaCMG was "considering starting high-end business process outsourcing functions in India."

The company's Bangalore operations support clients such as the UK's Britannia Airways, T-Mobile International and large financial institutions in the UK and the Netherlands.
