The Bangalore-based firm said it has signed a pact with China's Boco Telecom to sell its products and opened up a sales and support office in Beijing.
"Telecom companies in China reported a high revenue leakage due to fraud, technical and human errors of about 15 percent of their revenue. The annual loss is pegged at six billion dollars every year," said Subash Menon, president and chief executive officer of Subex.
He told reporters Subex was looking to get 15 percent of the Chinese market for fraud management systems in the next two years which will mean about eight million dollars in revenue.
He said Subex will staff its Beijing office with local employees and planned to sign more Chinese dealerships to sell its products.
"With more than 500 million subscribers the Chinese telecom market is almost seven times the size of the Indian telecom industry. This presents a tremendous market opportunity," he said.
Subex, set up in 1992, reported revenues in the last fiscal year that ended in March of 15 million dollars and has projected its revenues to grow 13 percent to 17 million dollars in the current year.
The company has a presence in 16 countries. Its clients include AmericaTel and Sprint in North America, Ikatel and Econet Wireless in Africa and the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority.
