Matsushita first-half net profit rises to 212 mln dlrs

 Japanese home electronics giant Matsushita said Tuesday net profit rose to 23.15 billion yen (212 million dollars) in the six months to September from 17.60 billion yen a year earlier.

Recurring profit rose to 57.25 billion yen in the period from 55.64 billion yen, and group sales rose to 3.64 trillion yen from 3.62 trillion yen a year earlier, the company said.

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd., better known under its Panasonic and National brand names, said it left forecasts for the full year to March 2004 unchanged from the previously estimated net profit of 30 billion yen and recurring profit of 120 billion yen on sales of 7.45 trillion yen.
