Veritas, one of the world's 10 biggest software firms, said it had grown its operations in the region to 1,100 staff across 17 cities over the past five years, but was looking to do more.
"As part of Veritas' efforts to further expand its worldwide leadership position across Asia Pacific and Japan, the company will provide the regions with operational support services... marketing, and operations functions from its Asia-Pacific operations headquarters," the company said in a statement.
Singapore, which is trying to restructure its economy with a much greater focus on information technology expertise, offered the company various incentives to operate its regional headquarters from the city-state.
"The fact that Veritas sees value in Singapore to establish its regional operations headquarters... speaks volumes of our connectivity and competitiveness," Singapore Economic Development Board chairman Teo Ming Kian said.
