SANTIAGO (AFP) Aug 26, 2003 A small NASA plane with 22 passengers, which was en route to Antarctica, was forced to make an emergency landing in southern Chile Monday due to engine problems, according to Chilean authorities.
The P-3 aircraft belonging to the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration landed without incident at the Carlos Ibanez del Campo airport, 2,000 kilometers (1,243 miles) to the south of Santiago. Repairs were underway.
