PARIS (AFP) Jul 11, 2003
French engineering and oil services group Technip-Coflexip said Friday it had won a 460-million-dollar (406-million-euro) contract in Nigeria to develop the country's East Area offshore oil field.

The contract, awarded by a joint venture combining the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation and Mobil of the United States, calls for the installation of an 18,000-tonne gas compressing platform and associated components to improve the extraction of oil from the field.

The initial installations are scheduled for delivery in early 2006.
