Sony recalls 13,000 'Vaio' laptops due to danger of electric shock
TOKYO (AFP) Jul 10, 2003
Consumer electronics giant Sony said Thursday it would recall 13,000 'Vaio' laptop computers for free repairs because users could be given a slight electric shock while using the machine and taking a phone call at the same time.

The domestic recall covers the Vaio Note FR model, which went on sale in May.

The company said there is a danger of "some electric shocks" when a phone call is received while the user is in contact with certain parts of the computer.

Sony did not provide an estimate for the impact of the recall on earnings.
