Turkish security forces fire in the air at quake protest

Security forces fired shots in the air to disperse a crowd protesting in the quake-hit eastern city of Bingol at insufficient government relief efforts, according to media reports and television footage.

Soldiers and police officers were seen firing in the air with automatic rifles as many protestors threw themselves on the ground, a footage on NTV news channel showed.

A police vehicle drove into the crowd, which numbered several hundred people.
