More than 11,000 evacuated in floods in Argentina
BUENOS AIRES (AFP) Apr 29, 2003
About 11,500 have been evacuated from their homes in central Argentina amid widespread flooding, authorities said Tuesday.

Ten thousand people fled their homes in Santa Fe province, and another 1,500 were evacuated from homes in Entre Rios province where a 44-year-old man drowned in floodwaters from last week's heavy rains.

The area hit by flooding is in Argentina's soybean producing region, but with most of the crop having been harvested already it was not expected to be seriously affected.
