Tareq Aziz in US custody: reports
WASHINGTON (AFP) Apr 24, 2003
The United States has detained former Iraqi deputy prime minister Tareq Aziz, US media said Thursday.

CNN and ABC television both cited US officials saying Aziz, the longtime international face of Saddam Hussein's regime, had been detained.

ABC said Aziz had given himself up. CNN said the details were not immediately known.

Aziz was number 43 on the list of 55 most wanted members of the Saddam regime issued by the United States. He was the most senior Christian member of the Iraqi administration.
