British defense minister in Qatar to visit war headquarters

British Defense Secretary Geoff Hoon was set to visit the coalition war headquaters in Qatar, where he met Thursday with Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jasem bin Jabr al-Thani, British diplomatic sources said.

Hoon arrived in Doha Thursday from Kuwait, where he spent the night following a visit to Iraq.

After his talks with the foreign minister, he was to travel to the war command headquarters as As-Saliyah, just outside Doha, and then to the nearby Al-Odaid US air base, before flying home Thursday evening.
